- Tip Advance -The ff-matic mechanism, which is a ferrule ring activated lead advancement system. I only know of a couple of pencils with this feature. The Hi-Uni Sharp Pro-Use M3/M5-5050 (M3=.3/M5=.5) and Hi-Uni Sharp Pro-Use M3/M5 3051. The ferrule ring is installed on tip assembly off the pencil. It can be pulled back to advance the lead. It's also an incremental advance mechanisms/knock mechanism).
