I like the Fisher refills, not least because they're available locally. I don't think I can get the C d'A "Goliaths" anywhere nearby. :-) rr4u, if the clip ends up too high on the pen to fit my work shirt pocket, I'll make a greater effort to make it move, but I don't want to damage the pen's finish in the process. The Fisher fine point blue pressurized refill is my default refill for a pen unless I have some specific purpose for the pen. --flatline

I'm partial to a medium, but otherwise we are of one mind. :-)

Goliath refills are expensive ...but their large ink reservoir is good for 600 A4 pages or 8,000 metres of writing, according to Caran d'Ache! The new Parker G2 Quink Flow and Gel BP refills are great! The Gel runs out fast. I hope the pen will fit your work shirt pocket as is. If you end up having to slide the clip down, despite the lacquering being very resistant, you should act with caution. I advise you to put something underneath the clip extremity. A drop of oil or some other slippery liquid, like dish wash soap, under the flaps, may be a good idea. Apply some force (go gently) on the back upper part of the assembly and it will loosen up. For last but not least, whatever you do, do it at your own risk. R.

It's ugly, but instead of moving the clip, you can put an O-ring under the clip so that the edge of your shirt pocket rests against the O-ring instead of the top of the clip. If you only need a little extra distance to keep the pen from poking through the bottom of your pocket, this might get you that distance.
I've played similar tricks with rubber bands on occasion, but they don't last as long as a good O-ring should.

I love them for drawing! For writing my new favorite is the fine point black Parker Quink Gel. Very hard to find these days but the old Parker Penman Golden Touch were also very good. R.

It won't poke through a pocket that easy! R.

While not *quite* conical, it does play nice with my pocket fabric. The matching 849, along with a leather pocket notebook and refills, has been mislaid by the United States Postal Service, but mislaid at my local post office. I'll have to drop in there tomorrow with the tracking number and see if it's resurfaced.

The 849 was quickly found by my local postal workers, and it and the 844 are now perched in my shirt pocket, along with a new leather notebook. My previous pocket notebook was made for Rhodia pads, and I was cutting down Rite-In-The-Rain pads to fit it; I'll probably use that one for work since it's made from PU and won't suffer as much from occasional abuse.
The Goliath refill is as nice as rr4u said it was, and a great blue! I now see why some people have complained about the awkward means of replacing the refill, but it's not an issue for me. :-)

To follow up on the 849 refill question, I can confirm that it will accept all the Parker/G2-style refills in my possession, plus the Fisher refill with the Parker adapter, and also Sheaffer ballpoint refills. The Fisher refill protrudes just a hair more than the Goliath refill, while the Sheaffer refill protrudes a wee bit less.
